At least a couple thousand in there. But, of course, I don't know anything about baseball cards other than that they are pretty much the most popular collectible of all time. And with that in mind, I know there are far too many out there for me to really learn what's worth what. So, what should I do?
Sell them as a lot for, say, $50 or something?
Sort them into brand, then into series, then into year, then check eBay and see if any of my cards pop up?
Just give up and sell them for $0.10 or $0.25 each at my next yard sale?

You probably have very little that is worth anything. Is there a card shop in your town? You could take them there and they could give you an idea of value. If they're honest.

Maybe put them up for auction on eBay?

I doubt there's anything of real value in there. I've found three instances where a kid tried to forge an autograph and miserably failed, so I don't think they were ever owned by a true collector. Of course, that said, there could be something in there that a true collector would have locked away in a safe by now.
But yeah, good call on taking them to a card shop. I'll check to see if there's anyplace nearby that can value/buy them.

When I was a kid we used becketts price guide. You probably don't want to spend too much time going through them. http://www.beckett.com/search/?sport=… . I don't think they have much value.

I would, but it would be a pain to ship them all at once. And a pain to list them all separately. I think the best option is to do ten cents each at a couple yard sales, then put the rest as a lot on Craigslist or eBay.

"I don't think they have much value."
Ugh, this. I collected as a kid. Probably the most valuable card I ever had was Chipper Jones' rookie card (1991 Topps #333). I've still got it somewhere, but I think it's worth less than $5.

True. I think ttymmnn had the best idea.

I remember growing out of collecting cards into cars. I took my massive collection of cards I had accumulated through the 80's and early 90's to the baseball card shop in hopes of walking out with thousands of dollars. All the more valuable cards had cases on them. Most of it was in excellent shape. The guy at the card shop sorted through it and offered me a few hundred bucks. I was devastated. I took the box home.
